Between rotating classes, one-off workshops and gallery openings, there’s usually something happening on Le Studio’s calendar. If you’re new to the Mordialloc art scene, here’s how to get the most out of what’s on offer.
Follow, don’t just check back
Workshops and classes at Le Studio are run by resident artists and visiting teachers, which means the schedule changes as often as the people running it. Facebook is where new classes and exhibition dates get posted first, so following our page is the most reliable way to catch things while spots are still open.
Popular classes fill quickly
Wheel-throwing lessons and kids’ art classes are consistently the first to book out. If you see a class you like on our Facebook page or a flyer around the studio, it’s worth contacting the teacher directly rather than waiting.
Exhibitions are a two-way street
Le Studio’s 52 metres of gallery wall exist because artists use them. If you’re a resident artist, or an outside artist interested in showing work in Mordialloc, exhibition space is available by arrangement. Opening nights are also some of the best times to meet other artists working here.
Don’t overlook the pop-up shop
Alongside classes and exhibitions, Le Studio runs a pop-up shop where resident artists sell prints, ceramics and small original works directly to visitors. It’s a low-pressure way to start selling work without committing to a full retail lease.
